Honeybush is a naturally organic caffeine-free South African plant that grows wild in various regions. While there are over 23 wild varieties of the bush, only two are used in the commercial production of Honeybush tea. Since most Honeybush plants are found in the southern mountainous areas, it is harvested using a pulley system to transport the plucked leaves to lower processing areas. The tea is cut with an old tobacco machine, fermented, and dried under controlled conditions. Much of the Honeybush crop is dried under the sun, however, that which is destined for export is mechanically dried to ensure consistent quality. Honeybush has a soothing effect on the central nervous system, eases constipation, is rich in Iron, Potassium, Calcium, Copper, Zinc, Manganese, Magnesium, and Sodium, can be topically applied to skin irritations, and relieves arthritis and joint pains.
